Quaint restaurant in the middle of the forest, delicious dumplings and nice hosts with friendly staff. You should call ahead and ask for a place. The food is delicious overall, unfortunately the mushrooms in my dish were out of the tin 😕 that should be changed. Nowadays you can get fresh mushrooms all year round😉

A lovely restaurant in the mountains where you can enjoy Thuringian cuisine. The site has a tower built in 1911 from which you can enjoy a superb view. The location is great as well as the food, so I think it's fun to take a walk around the forest after eating. I usually don't eat sausages much, but here Bratwurst (baked sausage), which was made by the traditional Thuringian method, had a good aroma with kneaded herbs and was very delicious. I'm originally from Japan and went there from Berlin with my German family to have lunch with their relatives living in IImenau.The restaurant looks so lovely being in a great location for walking around in a lot of green and seeing beautiful scenery with the old tower next to the restaurant. They have wonderful Thüringen dishes, everything seemed nice. It was hard for me to choose one. I finally ordered thüringian wurst.It tasted really good although I don't usually eat sausage that much.I hope to come again someday to have their Knödel.

I was there in a group of 30 for a knight's dinner. The whole atmosphere and clothing of the employees were appropriate to the occasion. I found the framework program with speeches, knightly tasks etc. great. The lookout tower next door is of course ideally suited for this.

We were able to enjoy a perfect knight's meal here. Everything was right. Delicious, rich food, nice and brisk service and an absolutely cozy atmosphere. Thank you very much!!!

Very, very nice up here! Watzdorfer on tap. Delicious food, also available as a small portion. Nice hosts. Highly recommended, 1 hour on foot from the Elgersburg car park entrance.
